Abstract
The Universidad Técnica Nacional (UTN) can participate in environmental
protection recognitions when natural resources are used for agri-food systems.
A form of strategic participation to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and
build adaptation processes to climate change. Carbon transactions in the
private market have so far been alien to the academic development of the
UTN, however, the incorporation of research processes in the management of
tools to modify management to ensure lower emissions and, in turn, increase
the carbon stock. The management of tools for verification of protocols used
in agro-industrial activities is of great value in a growing voluntary carbon
market. Without going against the official forestry market, the voluntary
carbon market is an investment alternative for conversion processes to
agroecosystems that are more resilient to climate change. There is an
opportunity to generate new partnerships in the strengthening of internationally
recognized protocols to provide updating options for undergraduate and
graduate students in climate change adaptation processes. In this sense, the
construction of tool management processes and applicability assessment also
requires international verification of compliance with the validity of the results,
so that the contribution is endorsed to be used beyond the scope where the
equations are generated to support the commercial exchange of carbon from
the production units of producers related to agribusiness.
