Abstract
In times of economic crisis, climate change and high inequality, there is an
increasing need to analyze, rethink and apply new development paradigms that
consider the context of a balanced and sustainable lifestyle over time. In view of
this, the following reflective article details and analyzes the results obtained in the
Webinar entitled "Green Jobs: a reconversion in the world of work", which was held
on October 21, 2020.
The generating questions that were addressed in this activity were: Are there
stimulus plans to promote the creation of green jobs in Costa Rica? How can
Costa Rica project itself as a regional reference in the creation of green jobs?
What are the significant sectors to generate investments in the development of
green jobs considering the pandemic conditions? What are the main
recommendations to develop sectors focused on sustainability and
socioeconomic equity? And, also, what professional profile is necessary to fill these
new jobs?
In this way, the virtual activity, which lasted two hours and was attended by
experts from various sectors, became a space for discussion and reflection of
different key perspectives to support decision-making in the transition from
education to the labor market. Among the most relevant conclusions is that the
different sectors agree on the need for quality technical careers supported by a
public-private articulation that will result in the creation of new sustainable and
fair jobs.
