Citation guidelines
References
Revista Académica Arjé uses the APA citation and reference format (latest current edition). Below are some general recommendations for handling references.
Only the bibliographic sources cited will be included. In-text citations or references must follow the “author, year” format in parentheses, for example: (Pérez Martínez, 2022). Direct quotations of 40 words or fewer should be placed in quotation marks.
Direct quotations of more than 40 words should be written as a block quote, indented, without quotation marks, without italics, using the same font type and size, and with 1.5 line spacing.
References must appear at the end of the text, with a hanging indent, and be arranged alphabetically by the first element of the entry, as specified in the latest edition of the APA style.
The use of reference management software such as Zotero or Mendeley is recommended to facilitate bibliographic work. The references in each manuscript should show a high percentage of recent sources from the last five years, except in the case of literature reviews, where references should cover a broader time range due to the nature of the study or when dealing with classic works.
For scientific articles, the manuscript should include 10 to 15 references. If fewer or more are submitted, they will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Personal communication
For APA Style purposes, the following are considered personal communications: private letters, notes, emails, messages from non-archived or private discussion groups, personal interviews, phone conversations, and similar sources. Since readers cannot retrieve these data to verify them, personal communications are not included in the reference list.
However, relevant personal communications must be cited in the text by providing the communicator’s last name and initials and the most exact date possible.

Ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI)
Acknowledging the use of AI tools
If authors use artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, Scite.ai, among others, to support writing, data analysis, or content generation, this must be explicitly declared in a methodological note. The declaration must include:
• The name of the tool used.
• The version or model, if known.
• The specific purpose of its use, for example writing assistance, literature summarization, translation, etc.
Avoid attributing authorship to AI tools
AI tools must not be listed as authors of manuscripts, since they cannot assume responsibility for the content, respond to conflicts of interest, or sign legal publication agreements.
Critically review AI-generated content
Authors who use AI in the preparation of their manuscript must:
• Verify the accuracy of the data, statements, or references generated.
• Avoid the dissemination of false or fabricated information, such as non-existent citations known as AI hallucinations.
• Ensure that the style and tone meet scientific and ethical standards.
Avoid plagiarism and maintain originality
Authors must:
• Avoid extensive use of AI-generated content without significant transformation.
• Not present automated content as their own if it has not been critically reviewed and revised.
Protect privacy and sensitive data
When using AI, especially cloud-based tools, authors must not upload or process:
• Personally identifiable information.
• Non-anonymized data from research participants.
• Confidential results prior to publication.
Limitations on the use of AI
Regarding the use of AI in the different sections of a manuscript, its use in the introduction should be limited. In the literature review, its use is acceptable as long as a critical review is conducted. In the methodology, it is acceptable provided there is review and transparency. However, in the results, discussion, and conclusions, its use is discouraged.
