About the Journal
Agro Journal is a journal that covers the following thematic areas: Food Technology, Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, Veterinary Science, Animal Production, Accounting and Finance with a focus on agribusiness, and climate change adaptation.
The Agro Academic Journal belongs to the Research and Knowledge Transfer Area of the National Technical University of Costa Rica, located in Alajuela, Costa Rica. It is an open-access, diamond, non-commercial academic electronic journal, which began its activities in 2023.

Objective
The objective of Agro Journal is to promote a culture of systematization and dissemination of research in the different thematic axes addressed by the journal, through interaction and innovation linkages, fostering scientific, technical, and academic publication.

Guidelines for Authors
Authors wishing to submit a manuscript may do so through the OJS system via the Submission link, or by email at revistagro@utn.ac.cr.
The journal follows the latest edition of APA standards for citation and references.

Rejection Rate
During 2025, 8% of the manuscripts submitted to Agro Journal were rejected.
Languages
Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
Periodicity
The journal follows a continuous publication model with annual closure in December. One annual volume with a single issue is published, covering content from January to December.
Authorship Requirements
Each author must be identified with an ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID).
In multi-authored works, ORCIDs must be ordered according to the authors’ criteria or level of contribution (from highest to lowest).
A corresponding author must also be designated, responsible for communication with the journal.

Digital Preservation Policy
Agro Journal is backed up on UTN institutional servers, which host and support the Open Journal Systems platform, ensuring security and preservation.
All published content is harvested by the UTN institutional repository.
Additionally, backups are created on Google Drive and on the journal’s local computer. This process is updated monthly.
In accordance with Costa Rican Press Law (No. 32, July 12, 1902) and Copyright and Related Rights Law (No. 6683, October 14, 1992, Art. 106), the Agro Academic Journal performs legal deposit of its volumes and issues in PDF format at the National Library System (SINABI).
Peer Review System
Agro Journal employs a single-blind peer review system, in which authors do not know the identity of reviewers, while reviewers have access to the authors’ names.If you wish to obtain more details about the role of the editorial system in the peer review process, you may find further information at the following link: Peer Review System.
Originality Requirement
All manuscripts submitted to peer-reviewed sections must be original and unpublished, and must not be under review or published elsewhere.
Authors must sign a Publication Authorization Letter declaring the originality and exclusivity of the manuscript.
Plagiarism Detection Policy
The journal uses Turnitin software and Google search engines for plagiarism detection.
Depending on the similarity percentage, the editor will determine whether revisions are required or if the manuscript is rejected.
Inclusive Language Policy
The journal promotes and recommends the use of inclusive language in its publications.

Open Access Policy
This journal adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative, which establishes the following:
“Open access to scientific publications means that any individual interested in this literature may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts and use them for any lawful purpose, freely and openly. The only restriction on open access is to grant authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.”

Therefore, this journal provides free, immediate, and unrestricted access to its content in order to promote research and scientific dissemination. It is also important to note that this journal does not charge any editorial processing fees nor article publication fees.
