This article systematizes the diagnosis of the impact of the “educational blackout” on the academic performance of students in the Accounting and Finance program at the Universidad Técnica Nacional who were between the diploma and bachelor's degree levels. Understanding the repercussions faced by students who graduated from high school between 2020 and 2024, this period was marked by the 2018 education strike, student demonstrations, and the 2020-2022 pandemic, which affected educational models, access to technology, and connectivity for remote learning. The objective of the study was to analyze this impact on first-year students at the Central Campus during the 2024-2025 period. A mixed approach was used, applying a structured questionnaire to a sample of 123 students and 20 teachers in the program, which made it possible to characterize the consequences of the phenomenon on academic performance. The main findings indicate significant gaps in students' self-perception of their competencies and teachers' assessment of technical and soft skills. Challenges such as stress, time management, and digital deficiencies were identified, which require teaching support strategies. It was concluded that the “educational blackout” deepened inequalities in entry-level training, creating a disconnect between the skills declared by students and those required.
