Poultry farming is one of the most important industries worldwide, as chicken meat is the most consumed source of animal protein globally. Due to the high demand for poultry farms, there is a need to develop new technologies that improve both production and bird health. One of the most recent technologies is in ovo feeding, which involves directly supplementing the embryo before hatching. In this literature review, the methodology of in ovo feeding was analyzed, along with the effects of various substances used in this approach. The nutrients evaluated included carbohydrates, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Additionally, bioactive substances such as probiotics, prebiotics, and symbiotics were considered. The reviewed studies highlight the potential of in ovo feeding to enhance the health and performance of broiler chickens. However, limitations in the implementation of this technique were identified, emphasizing the need for further research to validate the method and enable its large-scale application.
