From School to University: The Story of a Leader in Technical Education

This article presents the story of Josefa Guzmán León, a distinguished former mathematics professor and academic at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (TEC). Throughout her career, she made significant contributions to teaching and held various institutional leadership roles. She served as the president of the first Institutional Electoral Tribunal, former director of the School of Mathematics, and former director of the San José Academic Center. She was also the first executive director of FUNDATEC, a member of the Institutional Council, and Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs.
Her commitment to technical education has been reflected in her work as director of the Technical Education Program, professor in the Master's Program in Technical Education, advisor to the School of Technical Education, and coordinator of the commission specifically created to design and launch the Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Education at TEC.
Her contributions have been instrumental in strengthening technical education and developing institutional academic policies. She was recognized for her outstanding career by the National System of Accreditation of Higher Education (SINAES).
