Bioinputs based on bioferments at the Universidad Técnica Nacional, Costa Rica

Desde enero del 2019 se inicia la cooperación entre la universidad Técnica Nacional (UTN) sede Atenas y COOPEATENAS, se estructura una relación que desarrolla una investigación sobre el uso alternativo de bioinsumos en sustitución de insumos químicos que usan en la cooperativa. La propuesta parte del interés de ambas partes para evaluar alternativas, dado que el uso y costo de agroquímicos incrementan anualmente, disminuyendo la rentabilidad debido al estancamiento de los precios finales en los mercados de café de la cooperativa. Se consideró, además, las limitadas investigaciones en otras universidades o centros de investigación sobre la búsqueda de nuevos insumos, con menor costo y menor residualidad. Las universidades deben construir procesos y herramientas de inmediata utilidad para la sociedad civil, como herramientas para los productores agropecuarios y fortaleciendo las unidades académicas que forman profesionales para el sector agropecuario.
