In the heart of Costa Rica’s Central Valley, the canton of Sarchí has established itself as a stronghold of Costa Rican folk art and the cradle of national craftsmanship. Renowned for its colorful and distinctive handicrafts—especially the traditional Costa Rican oxcarts—it has preserved a unique artistic expression that has evolved over time without losing its essence: the Sarchí-style painting and its emblematic colocho sarchiseño.
